A really bad day in Parliament Two very depressing votes in Parliament today.
The first was in the House of Commons where the 42 day detention vote was won by the Government with a majority of 9.

The second was in the House of Lords, where Labour and LibDem peers defeated an amendment to have a referendum on the Treaty of Lisbon. There was a government majority of 62 - smaller than the number of LibDem peers who voted against a referendum.
