Congratulations! I'm delighted to hear that there will be a Liberal candidate in Wales. I had wondered about that. Good luck to you.
I've added you to the candidate list in the other thread.

How goes the campaign? What are the big issues in the Vale of Glamorgan?
karl-jameslangford- 04-28-2008
campaign My campaign focusses on gaining more ground for the parliamentary elections next year.
My sloggan, No promisses politics. Results are in the electing me.

As a matter of interest (and only if it isn't giving away trade secrets) how did you go about getting the necessary signatures on the nomination form? Did you contact local Liberal Party members, or ask family and friends, or did you knock on doors in your ward, as I know many people do?
I ask out of curiosity and because this seems like useful information for any prospective Liberal candidates who might read this thread.

In short I have a friend in the ward, and two individuals that are involved with two groups I run.
In short that 3 names, Only two needed for the nomination at Town council level, and then I needed another 7 for County level. He just collected names.
As I said before standing in the ward is to built up support for the Parliamentary elections next year.
My canvass question is always the same, Im your Liberal party candidate, are there any issues that concern you... I never, ever ask them to vote for me, thats their free choice. And they appreciate that.

Sounds like a good approach. I think many people are wary of canvassers because they think they are going to be ranted at. It is probably a pleasant surprise for them when you actually ask for their opinions!
p.s. Best of luck in your two elections tomorrow.

Its just so hard in Wales now.

It would be good for the Liberal Party in Wales to become the major force again that it used to be prior to the "merger" (take over) by the Soggies.
