Hello everyone. Hey. I saw a thread about this forum on BDF(where I go by the name Bonniedundee.). The liberals are one of my favourite British parties so I thought I'd join up. I'm Cornish, a radical decentralist and in favour of Cornish nationalism and self-gov't.
Can I ask what the Liberal position on Cornwall and our wish for an assembly is?

Hi and welcome to the forum, Angof.
I've just made a quick check on the Liberal Party website and found this bit on local government reform:
Areas such as strategic planning, the environment and social security should be devolved to the new Scottish Parliament, the Welsh Assembly and Cornish and English Regional Governments.
So the Liberal Party certainly appears to be in favour of devolving some powers to Cornwall.

Well that is good to hear as a Cornishmen. They also seem to imply recognition of Cornwall's sepereateness from England by differentiating Cornish and English regionalism.

Welcome. I recently learnt that John Pardoe, who lost the Liberal Party leaderhip con-*test*-('") with David Steel in the 70's was also a member of Mebyon Kernow. The connections between Liberal decentralism and the strenghth of the Cornish Liberal tradition interests me but i don't know enough about it to comment at length.
