Local council elections - May 1st 2008 - List of Candidates
As we all know, there will be local council elections on May 1st. Usually before local elections, the Liberal Party puts a list of its candidates on its website here: http://www.liberal.org.uk/electsdesk/index.htm However, as discussed in another thread, the website isn't being updated at the moment as the webmaster has been in hospital. Therefore, I thought I'd compile an UNOFFICIAL list of candidates here instead. I'll keep updating the list in this first post. If you know of any not on the list, please post a message in this thread and I'll add them to the list.

Local elections candidates list
I'm sorry to see that there are no Liberal candidates in Wolverhampton this year- for the first time that I can remember Colin Hallmark is not standing in Heath Town.

That's a pity. The total number of candidates is probably down on last year, but mainly because there is no election this year for some councils where there were lots of Liberal candidates last year. The main examples are Edinburgh or Leicester. There are also no contests for some councils where we have sitting councillors, including Worcestershire CC, Cornwall CC, Torridge DC, Kerrier DC and Ryedale DC. There may be other candidates I don't know about. I'm asking around. I didn't know about Karl James Langford in the Vale of Glamorgan until he posted that news in another thread just now.

Local Elections 2007
There were 84 candidates to principal authorities in 2007, and only 49 this year. But its good to see a candidate in Wirral and Bournemouth.

not all candidates are up for election
We don't have all our candidates (standing councillors) standing in these elections. Hopefully we will make gains. Liverpool, and other area's.
