NEC Decision on Henley Yesterday Saturday, I attended the National Executive Meeting of th Liberal Party, at the Civil Service Club, London.
The NEC were undecided on having a candidate in Henley, although they left this decision down to Dane's constituency 'group'.
It was discussed at length. In short Dane was very keen to be the candidate, but due to the limited time available to campaign: 20 days, to get his nomination papers in, organise the free post leaflet with the post office and to canvass.
It was decided by Dane, that we as a party did not have the time to organise a proper campaign.
I myself supported the proposal to have a candidate in Henley, but I am just one NEC member.

The NEC I guess took the right decision in letting it be decided by the local party and it is understandable that with the time restrictions that they didn't feel like going for it.
Perhaps next time the decision should be made earlier in order to give the team enough time to organise a proper campaign.
