Ryedale district council byelection
Thought I should post something election-related to kick off this section of the forum. Unfortunately, I only know of one election in which the Liberal Party has even had a candidate since the May 2007 local elections. It was a district council by-election in Ryedale, and was held in June 07. Fortunately the Liberal candidate won it, which makes it a pleasant result to post here! Ryedale District Council PICKERING EAST WARD DECLARATION OF RESULT OF POLL Date of Election : 21st June 2007 DENT Ena The Conservative Party Candidate 313 HEPWORTH Juliet Independent 185 WOODWARD Thomas Brown Liberal Party Candidate 577 ELECTED http://www.ryedale.gov.uk/pdf/District_Council_Pickering_East_Byeelection_results_21June2007.PDF (This means that the Liberal Party now has two seats on Ryedale District Council.)

By-elections in 2007
There were two other Liberal by-election successes in 2007: First, Graham Ballinger won the St. Chad's by-election to Worcestershire County Council in March- the seat made vacant by the sad death of Mike Oborski. Graham won with 1,059 votes- 50.04%. Second, at a by-election on 16th August, Cath Simpson (Liberal) was returned unopposed for the Pickering East ward of Pickering Town Council.

Hi newliberal, and belated but heartfelt welcomes to the forum! That's fascinating information, and it all adds up to 2007 having been a pretty encouraging year. Do you have any good sources of info for local election results generally?
