Wyre Forest (1st May 2008)
The Liberal Party has lost one seat on Wyre Forest but retains the other 6 it previously held.

That's a bit of a downer, especially as the Conservatives have gained four seats taking control of the council. :( I'm a bit puzzled as to which councillor the Liberal Party has lost. The candidates were: Cllr Graham Ballinger, Greenhill ward Cllr Fran Oborski, Offmore Comberton ward Shazu Miah, Broadwaters ward Alane Harvey, Franche ward Iain Price, Areley Kings ward Alex Harvey, Wribbenhall ward But the detailed results on the Wyre Forest Council website here: http://www.wyreforestdc.gov.uk/ccm/content/spu/media/news-items/front-page/use-your-vote-on-may-1st.en say that Graham Ballinger and Fran Oborski have both been re-elected with healthy majorities.

My guess is that we had a sitting councillor in Broadwaters ward (R. Wheway), that he has retired, that Shazu Miah replaced him as Liberal candidate there and has unfortunately been defeated. But that's just a guess.

I have no idea but it is not too bad. One loss in such a severe election is quite ordinary, indeed not bad.

The Liberals' Broadwater result was (despite losing the seat) an improvement on the 2007 result and leaves them within striking distance. Surprised that IKHHC didn't win that ward though.
