Pickering East, Rydale District Council
Election date: TODAY
Susan COWAN (Liberal Party)
Charles Fred DOWNES (Liberal Democrat)
Ann HOPKINSON (Independent)
William OXLEY (Independent)
By-election came about after the resignation of the Liberal Democrat councillor. A great chance for the Liberal Party to gain a seat. They hold the other Pickering East seat and gained the Pickering division at county level earlier this year, both against Conservative and independent candidates but never a Lib Dem. Hard to predict which way this interesting election will go. _________________ Blackadder: Marvelous thing, democracy. Look at Manchester; population, 60,000; electoral roll, 3. |

Excellent result for the Liberals, their representation on Ryedale District Council goes up to 3. Clearly the Ryedale Liberal Party knows what it is doing when it comes to elections. Other local parties would do well to study them. _________________ Blackadder: Marvelous thing, democracy. Look at Manchester; population, 60,000; electoral roll, 3. |
